The plastic nozzles of our air terminal devices are replaced with biocomposite

Climecon has replaced plastic nozzles in air terminal devices with biodegradable biocomposite material, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 90%.

Climecon demonstrates its commitment to sustainability through product innovation by transitioning plastic components to biocomposite materials in air terminal devices. The new biodegradable material dramatically reduces environmental impact, with carbon emissions dropping to just one-tenth of the previous plastic version. According to Pekka Huhtela, business director of air terminal devices at Climecon, "A 90% smaller carbon footprint is a fact that matters! Similar measures to reduce the carbon footprint will also be sought in the future." Beyond environmental benefits, the redesign improves aesthetic appeal. Manufacturing molds underwent spark treatment, enabling the nozzles to blend seamlessly with the matte surface of nozzle ducts, creating a more finished appearance. Since nozzles accumulate substantially across larger installations—used in displacement diffusers, nozzle ducts, and ceiling-mounted diffusers—this material substitution generates significant cumulative emissions reductions at major facilities.
