We have decreased our carbon footprint by more than a quarter in three years

Climecon reduced its carbon emissions by 26% over three years while simultaneously increasing business volume through systematic investments and renewable energy transitions.

Climecon achieved a remarkable 26% reduction in its carbon footprint between 2019 and 2022, corresponding to approximately 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide saved annually. This substantial decrease is equivalent to roughly 6 million kilometers of driving or 2,072 round-trip flights between Helsinki and Munich per year. Notably, this environmental progress occurred without sacrificing business growth—the company's revenue actually increased during this period. The company began its emissions analysis in 2019 and achieved carbon neutrality in spring 2020. Remaining unavoidable emissions were offset through global carbon sink initiatives. CEO Tommi Uksila emphasized that the reduction resulted from systematic work, stating: "A quarter of emissions reduction in a company like ours is a lot." Success stemmed from multiple concrete measures: machinery and equipment renewal, conversion to green electricity, installation of geothermal heating, and development of an on-site solar power plant. Climecon also committed to communicating its sustainability efforts transparently to inspire other organizations toward their own climate goals while simultaneously developing products with smaller carbon footprints.
