Climecon highlights three advanced functions in Vent.X that enable HVAC designers to optimize air terminal device selection and placement for improved ventilation outcomes.
Climecon's design tool Vent.X offers HVAC professionals capabilities to identify suitable ventilation solutions for their projects. The software includes three particularly useful features that advance air terminal device design. These tools help designers account for real-world conditions and project constraints when selecting and positioning equipment. The first feature addresses structural obstacles in rooms. Beams and other structural elements significantly affect air throw patterns from terminal devices. In renovation projects especially, designers cannot always freely choose terminal locations. Vent.X's "Obstacles" section in the throw pattern modeling view allows users to create and position bars representing structural elements, enabling designers to verify that selected terminals function properly despite environmental constraints. The second capability streamlines device placement through automated positioning buttons. When multiple devices of the same type are needed, Vent.X positions terminals symmetrically relative to the space and each other, eliminating manual calculation. Radio buttons at the bottom of the Diffuser tab present different layout options, allowing designers to quickly explore alternatives. The third feature optimizes airflow requirements based on desired performance outcomes. Rather than performing complex manual calculations, designers can select optimization targets—floor-level throw, wall-level, or the 1.8-meter occupied zone. The tool then adjusts airflow parameters based on room dimensions, temperature differentials, and terminal locations, enabling rapid assessment of design modifications.
