Imperial College's White City campus was Climecon's first major project in London, featuring research laboratories and open-plan spaces. The facility posed exceptional ventilation challenges because of its unusually high density of fume cupboards with substantial extract flow rates, which required correspondingly large supply air volumes while keeping air movement velocities to a minimum.

The laboratories called for an innovative approach to air distribution, with many services exposed in the ceiling. A critical constraint was that air velocities above 0.3 m/s would trigger fume cupboard alarms and shutdowns. Climecon developed a bespoke ROL/ROX nozzle duct combination to distribute exceptionally large air volumes evenly and without draughts. This tailor-made solution was rigorously tested at the VTT research facility, including full mock-ups of rooms and fume cupboards, to validate its performance.

The units were delivered floor by floor using a just-in-time method, enabling completion on schedule and within budget.

All in all a very successful project for those parties concerned
